Residential thermal performance rating — new builds, renovations, extensions.
The Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme has been the primary vehicle for rating Australian home energy performance since 1993. Since NCC 2022 the minimum for new homes is 7 stars, plus a Whole-of-Home score that captures fixed appliances and on-site renewables on top of the thermal envelope.
NSW Building Sustainability Index — energy, water, thermal comfort.
BASIX runs in parallel with NatHERS in NSW and is mandatory for most new residential DAs and renovations over certain thresholds. We issue compliant certificates covering the three mandatory categories (energy, water, thermal comfort) and align them with your NatHERS rating so certifiers sign off cleanly the first time.
NCC 2022 Part J for Class 2–9 commercial and multi-residential.
Energy efficiency provisions for commercial and multi-residential buildings — fabric, glazing, HVAC, lighting power density, sealing. We run Deemed-to-Satisfy first; where the design wants more glazing or a different fabric, we take the JV3 verification pathway and model the alternative against a reference building.
Rating the existing envelope + the additions, together.
Renovations are rarely a straightforward star-rating exercise. We rate the whole dwelling (existing + proposed) and show where adding insulation, a different glazing spec, or a shading solution lifts the whole-home rating — rather than just modelling the new bit in isolation and hoping for the best.
For green home loans, mandatory disclosure, and informed retrofit.
The NatHERS Existing Homes protocol now allows accredited assessors to rate finished dwellings — unlocking green home loan products, supporting ACT mandatory disclosure, and letting homeowners make retrofit decisions backed by actual thermal data instead of guesswork.
